The Pedn Olva Hotel, St Ives, with the sea only thirty feet below and flanked by golden sands, is on the site of a copper mine named Wheal Providence. It is said that smugglers at some time hid fifteen barrels of brandy in the mineshaft, and that they are still hidden behind the walls today.
Pedn-Olva (meaning lookout on the headland) is founded on blue-black granite rocks on the southern shores of St. Ives Harbour and Bay, and since the 19th Century has been a registered navigational mark for ships.
The hotel is unique from its visual impact to the location itself.
The plethora of windows facing the sea allows our guests the privilege and pleasure to view St Ives at its very best. The view from the hotel remains exquisite through every season, from the calm turquoise warm beauty of the spring and summer, to the wild drama of vibrant winds causing the waves to crash against the hotel during the autumn and winter.
